Quartz is one of the most complete minerals on the earth's surface and today it is the one with the most attributes and uses.
This mineral is formed during complex chemical processes, subjected to high geological pressures and temperatures. Quartz belongs to the trigonal crystal system at room temperature, and the hexagonal crystal system. Its most perfect and common form is that of a six-sided prism that ends in a six-sided pyramid at each end. Its structure is given according to the atomic arrangement of its interior, forming rhombic systems. Its hardness, within the Mohs scale, is 7, scratching any known metal. As a curiosity, the Earth's magnetic field is fed in a certain part by quartz crystals.
At an industrial and technological level, it is used in chips, microprocessors or watches due to its conductive capabilities. It is also pyroelectric, meaning it can generate voltage when heated.
Within the quartz family there are many varieties. Rose quartz, tourmaline quartz, hematoid quartz, or lemurian quartz, among many others. All of them have other crystalline structures and also in combination with other minerals, they give these different metaphysical attributes.

Blue smoke quartz, is a recent discovery from the province of Santander, (Colombia) and is considered a variety of Lemurian quartz. The pale bluish cloudy opalescence that characterizes it is caused by micro inclusions of a mineral derived from lithium called Cookeite. Cookeite lamellae are often embedded in the faces of the quartz, or spread throughout the matrix or included within it.

Mango quartz is a very rare variety of quartz recently discovered in the Boyacá region, Colombia in 2017.
Its main characteristic is the inclusion of Halloysite in its tips, which gives it that characteristic orange tone. The mineralization of this crystal occurred in a limestone bed whose general formation process began 33 million years ago.
